Ashif and Shelina Suleman
Ashif and Shelina are fourth generation Kenyans. Years ago, they owned a transport company in Narok. Responsible for transporting goods of all kinds over tough terrain and in challenging weather and road conditions.
During this time, they were approached by a local Masai who had land to sell because he wanted to send his daughter to college. Ashif agreed to purchase the 50 acre parcel. It was rocky and barren but Ashif and Shelina had a vision.
This was truly an exercise in building something out of nothing. Ashif then sent his wife and two children, Sully and Sam, to Australia to complete their education as he settled into a tent on the rocky property, where he resided alone for 7 years, as he oversaw each bit of Amani Mara’s eco-conscious development.
Today Ashif and Shelina are the proud owners of the beautiful Amani Mara, located in the Masai Mara. Their sons now co-manage Amani Mara. They also have a home in Narok, where the children’s home is located.
Because of their proximity, they are able to oversee the work of Cherish Narok’s Children. Having knowledge of local vendors and the community itself is invaluable. Visitors to Amani Mara are always encouraged to make a stop at the Children’s Home to see our work there.
Sean and Claudia Quinn
Sean and Claudia Quinn reside in Northern California. Sean has been in foodservice sales for more than 50 years. His accounts are in the Bay Area and include many famous well known restaurants. His knowledge of food and vendors has been helpful in planning our fundraising events.
Claudia’s professional background started in advertising years ago. She was a Business Affairs Manager in radio and tv commercial production. After that she ventured into teaching young children in Park and Rec programs and also spent time job coaching young adults for a local nonprofit working with the disabled.
The Quinns started Cherish Narok’s Children after stumbling upon the Children’s Home in 2019. Since then, the non-profit has grown. Claudia now manages the non-profit, working on fundraising, accounting, and social media. She purchases Kenyan crafts on each trip and brings them back to sell at their annual events called Harambees!
Together, the Quinns enjoy travel – including annual trips to Kenya (on their own dime – never taking these expenses from donations.)
They have a grown son, Eric, who lives on the East Coast and are proud grandparents of twins, a boy and a girl who are now 9 years old.
The children in the home in Kenya are definitely their second family and the children often call them Mum and Dad.
Amanda Brown
Originally hailing from Louisville, KY, Amanda currently resides in Newport Beach, California, by way of San Francisco and Palm Beach, Florida. Professionally, she has a background in software sales, where she’s developed a passion for building relationships and driving meaningful results. She is grateful to apply these skills—along with her belief in the power of connection—to support the vital work of Cherish Narok’s Children. In her spare time, she is an avid backgammon player and enjoys spending time with her beloved nephews, Nolan (9 years old), and Matthew (5 years old).
In 2022, she had the profound privilege of spending a week on the ground with the children supported by Cherish Narok’s Children in Kenya’s Narok County. That time—immersed in their daily lives, hearing their stories, and witnessing their courage—left a lasting impression on her and deepened her commitment to this mission.
Amanda is proud to stand with an organization that operates with full transparency: 100% of all donations go directly to educate the children. She believes every child deserves a chance—and she’s seen firsthand how even modest support can change the course of a life.
